An ideal stopping point for journeys through Scotland, our friendly Moffat Club Site lies in the stunning Scottish Lowlands.
Despite being just three minutes from the M74, the pretty Victorian spa town of Moffat is much more than just a pit stop. With 180 pitches, this well-laid-out campsite boasts well-placed facilities.
Surrounded by magnificent scenery, Moffat Club Site is located in a wide-open valley.
Just a five-minute walk from the campsite, Moffat boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Take some time to find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel – appearing in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. On a Friday, Moffat hosts a weekly market and a monthly producer’s market.
Nearby, Station Park offers a variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. In October, the town holds an annual walking festival, and from the campsite, you can access some of the finest hill-walking in south Scotland.
Located close to the campsite, Grey Mare’s Tail is a magnificent waterfall dropping over 200 feet from Loch Skene.
There are several historic houses and castles in the area, including Drumlan Rig Castle near Thornhill. Surrounded by magnificent landscaped gardens, this castle is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house and contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci.
Located close to Dumfries, Caerlaverock Castle is a moated medieval fortress overlooking the Solway Firth.

Max Dobres - Astrophotography
The true beauty of the universe is hidden from us. By day it is overwhelmed by light from the sun, by night it is often obscured by clouds, the moon or increasingly by man-made light pollution. Even on a perfect night the sheer distance and faintness of cosmic objects makes them effectively invisible. Astrophotography reveals these wonders.
Max’s presentation will provide an overview of the equipment, and processes required to take stunning images of Deep Sky Objects
Guy Edwardes - Landscapes of the British Isles
Guy will show around 140 inspirational images with continuous commentary explaining the techniques used to capture them, both in the field and in post-processing. His presentations are all about tips and advice so you can be sure to learn something new and will hopefully be inspired to get out there with your camera to experiment for yourself.
Malcom Hupman - Where I Photograph British Wildlife
This is Malcolm’s most popular talk and shows a broad range of wildlife subjects and where they might be found. It is suitable for both experienced and novice photographers. For those new to wildlife photography, location, time of year and the weather will all influence what you are likely to see. So, as well as the location, equipment and settings I have included the date taken on each image.
Steve Gosling - Order & design in landscape photography
Steve is a professional photographer who specialises in producing creative & contemporary landscape images. His 'signature' style is moody, atmospheric and minimalist black & white photographs.
Steve's images have been published internationally as posters & greetings cards and have appeared in advertisements, books, magazines, newspapers & calendars across the world. Prints of his work have been exhibited in venues throughout the UK and have appeared on sets for both theatre and film productions. His work has also won awards in both national and international competitions.
Joe Houghton - How to shoot better photos and easily fix the ones that didn't work
Joe Houghton takes out photo fails from his extensive back catalogue, and discusses why they didn’t work - it might be camera technique, incorrect settings or just bad luck! And then we see how they might be rescued or improved using software - or not!

The town has a story which stretches back over 5,500 years with Neolithic farmers, Saxons and Romans all having left their mark on this ancient landscape. The countryside around the town is studded with prehistoric sites including the Icknield Way that travels from East Anglia to Wessex. The name Princes Risborough relates to an important moment in medieval history when in 1343 Edward III appointed his eldest son, Edward the Black Prince, as custodian of the manor of Rysburg (at the time the town was called ‘Great Rysburg). The new title ‘Princes Rysburg’ was in recognition of its new status
before becoming Princes Risborough in the 1600s which is a Saxon reference to the brushcovered hills.

The village of Sixpenny Handley lies in the heart of the historic and picturesque Cranborne Chase in Dorset, between the Romano-British village of Woodcutts and the Roman road of Ackling Dyke. It is a thriving village attracting new residents, tourists and businesses to this beautiful part of Dorset.
Church Farm Caravan & Camping Park is a campsite run by Stephen Judd & his wife Lee. We are situated in a village called Sixpenny Handley, which is in the heart of the Cranborne Chase, Dorset.
We are based on an arable farm, surrounded by glorious countryside and are located within just 300m of the village high street, where you will find a variety of shops. The Campsite is also very well placed for walking and cycling in the surrounding countryside.
As well as having our own onsite climbing frame and play equipment to keep little campers entertained, there is also a large recreation ground close by, with a skateboard ramp and play area.
Church Farm is an ideal site for those wishing to tour the local area due to its close proximity to the historic City of Salisbury and the market towns of Blandford Forum, Wimborne Minster, Shaftesbury and Ringwood.
You can easily visit some of the areas most famous landmarks like Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Gold Hill and Wimborne Minster.
If beaches are your thing, Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton are only a 45 minute drive away.

Enjoy the thrills of camping near Alton Towers Resort and the Peak District from this Club Site.
The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club Site. If you are looking for Alton Towers camping, this attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed, being just a mile from the theme park.
Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.
While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of the Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.
Guy Edwardes - Creative macro photography
I have been a professional landscape, nature and travel photographer for over twenty-five years. My work has been published worldwide with clients that include: Canon, Amateur Photographer, Outdoor Photography, Photo Plus, Dorset Life, Archant Life publications, Telegraph, Guardian, The Reader's Digest, AA Publishing, The Ordnance Survey and many card and calendar publishers around the world. I have published two successful books on photography technique.
Although my main interest is photographing the wildlife and wild places of the British Isles, I also make many overseas trips each year. Wherever I am working I try to capture subjects in new ways, often working on new techniques in order to produce a unique image. Living in South West England I have a variety of beautiful landscapes and interesting habitats right on my doorstep and many of my most successful images have been taken within a few miles of my home.

Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5 - People, Portraits and Photojournalism
In this talk I show a range of 'People Pictures'. The images will cover candid's, photojournalism, as well as studio and available light portraits. I explain, as well as giving examples, why some subjects can work in colour, while others can be considerably improved by converting to monochrome.
I show some of the best places in the UK to go for 'people pictures': Speakers Corner, Brick Lane, Tate Modern, Blist Hill Victorian Village, The Black Country Museum, The Beamish Museum, 1940's weekends, Tough Guy event, and the Victory Show. I also cover working in a studio with flash and show how to take pictures at Live Rock events and explain how to take candid pictures without people noticing you.
