“Portraits with Personality”
Being a photographer is like going on a journey. A journey of seeing. Seeing the world differently, looking at the scene through a viewfinder and selecting the most effective composition, choosing the colours and ensuring the light is right for your message. All these things take time, effort and practice. Anyone can take a photograph, not everyone can take a good one.
Like so many photographers I have been 'snapping' pictures of family, friends, and places for many years. I spent 35 years in the computer industry in Technical Support, Marketing and Project Management.
After retiring I have studied photography with the Open College of the Arts now part of the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
I graduated with a BA (Hons) Photography in April 2017

“"Litchfield " on Photography”
A Miscellany of my Colour, Monochrome and Infra red Monochrome images. Your chance to see what this Judge photographs to fulfil his passion for photography. This keynote digital talk covers Yorkshire and the surrounding area.
A Photographer since 1980, a Judge for 25 years, active in NEMPF, Lincolnshire and the YPU. I now have two digital talks, "Litchfield" on photography and The (M) art of monochrome.
I have been making images since 1980. My first serious camera was a Zenit EM film camera, I used both Nikon and Canon for my early slide film work. When I moved to Doncaster, I built a darkroom in my spare room. Hence my deep love for monochrome.I was very proud to gain my CPAGB in slides. Now currently using Canon digital ( 5D mk 2,3 & 4 ) with L series lenses, in and around South Yorkshire, England. I get a lot of inspiration from judging images in North & East Midlands Photographic Federation , Lincolnshire and the Yorkshire Photographic Union. ( Twenty Five years at it now !!! ) My current projects involve Industrial landscape, Woodland, street photography and monochrome infra red, on Protech converted Canons 5D mk 3 ( 720nm and mk4 (850nm), or just taking my camera for a walk while litter picking in Woodland. My post processing is done in Lightroom, which suits me fine. I am a member of TTL Camera Club here in Doncaster and a member of the Lincolnshire Monochrome Group.

“Why black and white?”
At 14 years of age, I knew I was destined to be a fine art photographer. While hiking in Rochester, NY I stumbled across the ruin of an old home that George Eastman had once owned. This piqued my interest and I read his biography. I was fascinated with photography and before I had completed the book, before I had even taken a photograph or seen a print develop in the darkroom, I knew that I was going to be a photographer. For the next 10 years photography was my complete existence, if I wasn’t taking pictures or working in the darkroom, I was reading every book and looking at every image I could find. There was nothing in my life but photography.
Even at this early age I found myself drawn to a particular style of image, one that would literally cause a physical reaction in me. They were dark images created by Adams, Weston, Bullock and others. I knew that I was destined to create such images.
