Misterton - 18th to 23rd March 2010
Although a member of the Photogroup for almost 3 years, my ill
health has prevented my wife and I attending a meet until recently.
We finally decided to put faces to the names we regularly saw when the Mono and
Colour portfolios came our way and booked in for the first meet of the year at
Misterton in South Yorkshire.
We were so glad we did, for what a friendly and helpful bunch
you are.
No sooner had we chosen our pitch but Dave Hall saw we were mystified by the
array of poles supplied with our newly chosen awning and offered to help.
He was soon joined by fellow steward Chris Garritt and between us we got the
awning up in a fashion (we had 2 poles left over) but as it seemed to be holding
together okay, we didn't fret.
Dave cut his finger whilst doing his good deed for the day but lived to tell the
tale.
During the stay the weather was mixed and as you would expect
for March. but we were able to get out and sample the sights of this lovely
area, although it did rain heavily on the Saturday giving me the opportunity to
keep track of the football scores and even watch my home team Wolves play Aston
Villa, at the Red Hart pub just down the road.
The Red Hart was the venue for our nightly get togethers and
the stewards had organised an entertaining programme of speakers starting with
Dave Morland who showed us some excellent AV's and Fotospeed sponsored Peter Yeo
who displayed his wonderful prints.
AS is the usual practice I am told, as a new member I was
asked to show some of my work. This I was glad to do, given the friendly welcome
we had received, so on the Sunday night I showed some prints I had with me.
Monday night was free abd easy night, when we all showed
digitally projected images either taken that weekend or brought especially for
others to see. To start the evening off I showed some of my own efforts at
producing AV's.
All in all a great weekend and one we wish to repeat ASAP. We
don't think we can make Stoke Gabriel but look forward and cementing new
friendships at the Lichfield meet.
Thanks again Dave and Chris for your help with the awning!!!!
