Reflections on the meet at Tregarton, Cornwall
We expected sun, sea and sand and got wind, rain and clouds as
well; four seasons in ten days - not bad!
We had a wonderful time visiting the 'Lost Gardens of Helligan',
which are found again; the Eden project without Eve and went back to the 40's at
Bodmin.
The latter cost money as some decided to dress up in future.
A
cream tea in Pendennis, walking on the South West Coastal Path in pouring rain
and sunshine and lost keys near Magavissey, all added to the rich pattern of
activities during the daytime.
The evenings included the usual mixture of demonstrations and
image sharing.
Two new members, Marilyn and Frank showed their images with which they
had obtained their DPAGB.
By sharing their individual scores for each image they
were able to demonstrate the range of scores needed to be successful in such a
venture.
Well done to both of them, we hope to see more work in the future, it
is so inspirational.
Images were taken by members during the meet were shared on
the final evening.
The quiz caused the usual friendly controversy, particularly
when there were two possible answers.
Memories include the mishaps in the
showers, when the unwary turned the water on by inadvertently triggering the
sensors whilst still fully clothed or drying themselves and the solitary camper
being invited to breakfast by Frank and Barbara Eyre, one very wet and windy
morning.
No hard standing created difficulties for motorhomes and two needed to
be towed off.
Buss passes were well used and shared transport helped to
reduce the carbon footprint as well as making outings more enjoyable.
All in all
a good ten days and worth making the long journey to get from Suffolk to
Cornwall.
