Packhorse Bungalow, Alderwasley, Derbyshire - 10th
to 15th April 2008
'So many places to see' was the general consensus on this
meet.
24 units made their was to Alderwasley in rather uncertain weather, resulting
yet again in a few sinkings on the field!
Fortunately, we had two barns available, both of which welcomed us with
woodburning stoves, lit each evening by the farmer.
Many local attractions such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and
Hardwick Hall were visited
and some early bird photographers caught the dawn light and some dippers at
Lathkilldale.
Friday evening Jim Price explained the intricacies of digital
panels and encouraged us to look at photo opportunities with these in mind.
Members could perhaps show off their achievements at a later meet.
Eileen and David Harrison led an entertaining evening of Competitive Cropping on
Saturday,
which produced some interesting results - particularly fences!
Sunday evening hosted a cheese and wine party followed by quizzes and general
merry making round the fire.
During the weekend David Harrison was available to demonstrate mount cutting and
mounting photographs.
On Monday morning there was a guided tour of Denby pottery
factory that gave us the opportunity to see many techniques used to create the
familiar designs we all know.
Finally the group were allowed to watch plates being painted
and had a chance to make frogs to take home.
(So that's what they were doing! Ed.)
Many thanks to all who helped make this weekend memorable
particularly our assistant stewards David and Eileen and Jim for giving us his
time.
